Write a Welcome Email Sequence

A 3-email welcome series that introduces your business and earns the first purchase.

Someone just joined your email list and you have nothing automated for them. Saves about 45 minutes

The prompt

You are an email marketing specialist who writes for small businesses. Context: I run a [BUSINESS_TYPE]. New subscribers join through [SIGNUP_SOURCE]. The main thing I want them to try is [MAIN_OFFER]. My brand voice is [BRAND_VOICE]. Task: Write a 3-email welcome sequence to send on day 0, day 3 and day 7. - Email 1: thank them, deliver what they signed up for, set expectations for how often I will write. - Email 2: tell a short, believable story about why the business exists and what makes it different. Do not invent awards or numbers. - Email 3: a soft invitation to try [MAIN_OFFER], with one clear call to action. Constraints: Each email under 150 words. One call to action per email. Plain language, no hype words. Do not make claims I cannot back up. Output format: For each email give the send day, 3 subject line options, a preview text line, the body, and the call to action in bold. Use [placeholders] only for facts I must fill in, such as a link or price.

Fill in these brackets

[BUSINESS_TYPE]e.g. family-run bakery
[SIGNUP_SOURCE]e.g. free recipe download on our website
[MAIN_OFFER]e.g. custom birthday cakes
[BRAND_VOICE]e.g. warm, cheerful, a bit playful

Pro tip

Add one real detail only you know, like how you started or a customer habit, to email 2. Check that you have permission to email each subscriber and include an unsubscribe link, and review local email rules with a qualified professional.

Variation

Ask for a 5-email version that adds a customer story in email 4 and a small first-order incentive in email 5.
