Build a 30-Day Content Calendar

A day-by-day posting plan with topics, formats and calls to action, built around your offers and customer questions.

You post when you remember and want a plan for the month ahead. Saves about 45 minutes

The prompt

You are a social media strategist for small businesses with little time. Create a realistic 30-day content calendar. Business: [BUSINESS_TYPE]. Audience: [TARGET_CUSTOMER]. Platforms: [PLATFORMS]. Posts per week: [POSTS_PER_WEEK]. Events or offers this month: [MONTH_EVENTS_OR_OFFERS]. Task: Produce a calendar in a table with columns Date (Day 1 to Day 30), Platform, Content type (educational, behind the scenes, proof, offer, community, entertainment), Topic, Hook line, Call to action. Mix content types so no more than one in five posts is a direct sales post. Include the events and offers I listed, and include a rest day pattern that matches my posting frequency. Constraints: Every idea must be doable by a non-designer with a phone. Do not invent customer stories or results. Topics must answer a real customer question or show how we work. Format: The table first, then 5 batching tips for making a week of content in one sitting.

Fill in these brackets

[BUSINESS_TYPE]e.g. family-run bakery with two shops
[TARGET_CUSTOMER]e.g. homeowners planning a kitchen renovation
[PLATFORMS]e.g. Instagram and Facebook
[POSTS_PER_WEEK]e.g. 4
[MONTH_EVENTS_OR_OFFERS]e.g. spring sale on the 15th, new service launching

Pro tip

Batch-create all posts of the same type on one day. Filming four behind-the-scenes clips at once is much faster than four separate days.

Variation

Ask for a calendar that uses only one platform and one content type, as a simple starting routine.
